This is the Healthy Treat take on roasted makhana, finished with a sharp, smoky peri peri heat. Makhana, or fox nuts, are roasted until crisp and tossed in seasonings such as peri peri, pudina, chaat masala, tomato and Himalayan salt with black pepper.
Makhana is roasted dry until it puffs and crisps, then seasoned. No deep frying is involved. A light evening snack, a film-watching bowl, a lunchbox filler, or a fasting-day option depending on the seasoning.
